leaves have also had many traditional medicinal uses, especially for the
treatment of coughs, sore throats and nasal congestion, but also for a range of other problems such as
infections, rheumatism and flatulence. The plant is cultivated in home-gardens throughout India for use in
traditional medicine, being used to treat malarial fever, hepatopathy, renal and vesical calculi, cough.
chronic asthma, hiccough, bronchitis, helminthiasis, colic, convulsions, and epilepsy, Shenoy and others refer to further Indian traditional
medicinal uses such as for skin ulcerations, scorpion bite, skin allergy,
wounds, diarrhoea, with emphasis on the leaves being used as a hepatoprotective, to promote liver health.
Colcus amonicus is a fleshy, bushy, perennial,
highly aromatic and medicinal herb is commonly grown as a potted plant in India.
Now this medicinal herb is cultivating world wide countries .It is known as in
Tamil karpooravalli, because of it is having the flavour of camphor .In Hindi
it is called Ajwain leaves. This has been used for long time in Indian
alternative system of medicines like Ayurveda ,Siddha and folk medicines .

has various medicinal properties. . The leaves contain glucosides of
luteolin and apigenin. Karpuravalli leaf is an excellent cure for cough
and cold. Adding this leaves to rasam during winter season helps us to
recover from severe wheezing and bronchitis related issues. A decotion of
Karpura valli and tulsi help alleviate cold and cough.
Coleus Ambonicus is known as karpuravalli in Tamil. This plant should be grown in homes where there are children. It is called as Karpuravalli because it carries the flavor of camphor. In Tamil karpuram means camphor. Coleus ambonicus is a much branched, fleshy, highly aromatic pubescent herb. The plant is a Malay species,cultivated and found run wild. It grows in Circars,Deccan and Carnatic.Karpura Valli is a juicy plant.
